November Rimfire
Posted 1 Nov 08

The weather didn't seem too bad for the morning drive but approaching the range the sky turned dark and broken with bolts of lightening. At the range six shooters huddled under an awning as a downpour ensued. It gave way to on/off showers and  three shooters braved the mud to make it a match. Two lessons here: 1) The weather at the range is generaly not what it is in the southland. 2) Unless the match is officially canceled, as noted so on the home page, chances are good a match will happen.

For this match we used USPSA targets but scored them as ICORE targets. Because of the design differences in the targets this required some adjustments when recording hits. For example "C" hits become "B" and "D" becomes "C". When totaling score sheets it was noticed in certain cases a rather higher number of C hits than B. That's unusual and may have been an incorrect recording using the adjustment. It's impossible to fix things like that after the fact so if certain scores seem not to square with recollection that is likely the reason. Regardless, it was a fun match and we may do it again.

Retro Match
Posted 17 Aug 08

John Maxwell who directs our annual retro match has proposed it for the October club match. A for fun match with Limited guns only and a dueling tree after match shoot off. All about old fashioned fun. In the past only speed loaders were allowed. This year John has relented, and is allowing clipped 45s (Model 625, etc). For 45 revolvers, all reloads must use either 1/2 or 1/3 moon clips but the shooter may start with a full moon clip. Seven shot revolver owners are encouraged to use them with speed loaders. More info as it becomes available

At Dan's suggestion, the "monthly" newsletter has been scrapped because it wasn't being kept up to date. Tidbits will replace that function by postings of events and news items as they occur. This is an example of a posting. Menus have been changed around a little to minimize clicking. Only the frequently visited pages are in the continuous menu as shown above. The remainder of the less visited pages are reachable only from the home page. Feedback is always welcome.
